“Altered Light” was photographed at the Aviario Nacional de Colombia near Cartagena, Columbia. The light bouncing off of the pond ripples becomes expressive and painterly as it alters the tree reflections and the plant life and debris in the water; and the leaves floating in the pond seem to be suspended in space, appearing not anchored in reality. The image tries to capture the expressive characteristics and the unusual spatial qualities of the landscape as “visual poetry”. The only PS alterations to the raw image were to crop the image and to bring out more detail (especially in shadows) and to increase slightly brightness and saturation in selected areas.
