“Purple Sky in the Morning” was photographed at a small fishing harbor near French Creek located on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. Due to weather, fishing vessels the harbor was extremely crowded creating a complex image of decks and masts in motion. The print was created from two photos having little color due to the rain storm. The highlights and shadows of the fishing boats were colorized with purples and reds as a play on words between the title of the image and the saying: “red sky in the morning a sailors warning but red sky at night a sailors delight” The colorful print explores the intricate scene with its filigree of masts and rigging.
