“Apparition at Antelope Canyon” was photographed at Antelope Canyon near Page, AZ. This is a narrow slot canyon sculpted by water that is only 6 to 12 feet wide that towers above you and is best viewed from 11 am to 1 pm when sunlight optimally illuminates the rock formations and colors. To see the shafts of light, sand from the canyon floor is tossed into the air. With a longer exposure as the sand falls it creates ethereal images reminiscent of those whose footsteps have long been washed away. The image attempts to capture the canyon’s unique character by bringing out its color and sculptural qualities.
