“Sanctuary” was photographed at the Aviario Nacional de Colombia sanctuary for wild birds near Cartagena, Columbia. The landscape was memorable for the interplay of lights and darks on the overlapping tree limbs, branches, bushes, and roots. The scene also had rich textural and linear qualities that gave the sanctuary setting character.
